"You're so good at this!"

This phrase I have heard a lot this past weekend. All of it had to do with helping people out with their weddings. I love helping people with their weddings. And I have been a part of so many that I know my way around the does and don'ts. And I know that all the people who gave the compliments of:

"You are so good at this!" "Have you thought about doing this professionally?" "You are amazing at wedding stuff!" and more meant them all. But can I just have a moment of vulnerability?

First you have to know that my number 1 love language is Words of Affirmation. Now most of you would be thinking oh wow well you love tank should have been full by the end of the weekend! You would think it would have been. But it wasn't. Not because of others, but because of myself.

I honestly have a hard time truly excepting my love language. Even from those who I know honestly care about me. This is what happens. One person will compliment me, I say thank you and usually point out others who have helped me or leave it at the thank you. Then 3 other people come and do the same thing. At this point my mind starts to question if they actually mean it. Or if someone told them to make sure to tell my nice things.

Now I know that this is ridiculous. As the thoughts come across I even acknowledge the fact that this could not be true. But the thoughts are there and a small wall starts to go up. I know this about myself. Since learning this about myself have started to try and keep the wall from appearing.

I have to remind myself that I am worthy of love. Not because I'm awesome, or super talented at something. But because God says so. It is a challenge to not let the lying voice take over, but it is possible. To all of you who think or have thought at one point that you are not worthy of love I want you to know that you are!

Romans 5:8 says:

But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us!

If Jesus was willing to give up His life for you just to show you the Fathers love, then you are worthy of love! Jesus didn't give up His life for those who already believed in God alone. He gave up His life for those of us who were and are in the pits of lies and death.

So hear my words today...

... YOU ARE LOVED!!!
