It's cold here, but people are warm and love cookies!
I have now been here almost a month! Let me tell you it is cold here! As I sit here with my layers of clothes and blankets on and all the heaters on full and a fire going I still feel like it's cold in my apartment! But I think I'm starting to get to use to it. The people here have been so warm and welcoming though. I have also learned that plain homemade chocolate chip cookies are a special treat.
The youth that are a part of the church have pulled me right into their group. A few of the girls showed me around and taught me how to get train tickets. I have enjoyed getting to know the youth here. Learning all of the cultural differences has been fun with them too.
Not only have the youth been amazing but so have A LOT of the adults. They have been a huge blessing to me while I have been getting settled in. One of my favs so far has been some super tasty home made African food! A few church members have known that I'm still getting use to shopping and cooking here so they have either taken me out or have brought me some delicious home cooked meals.
Cooking here is a little different. After a few trips to the stores here I now understand why they found my homemade cookies so amazing. Chocolate chips are hard to find and once you find them they are in small bags and cost more then a big bag back home! But I'm glad that I found some and that they enjoyed the cookies.
Here are some photos of my adventures so far.
